This week, Bing shares some helpful hints on how to build quality content for the web, providing insights and solutions as to how to go about measuring “quality” and examine the factors attributed to “quality” content. In the piece, Bing explains how to build content in such a way that it is credible and provides a visitor with their desired needs, as well as rank favourably in search engine search results.
Bing is set to host a schema.org workshop on the 21st September 2011 in Silicon Valley following many discussions and feedback received after 2 June this year when it was announced that the search engine would collaborate with Google and Yahoo in order to create and support a set of standards for structured data markup on web pages. The workshop will serve as a “working session” to all who participate covering feedback and discussing options.
Rumour has it that Microsoft of planning a new hybrid search / social networking service called Tulalip which currently sits on the SOCL.com domain. Microsoft aren’t giving away too much at this stage but it is the general assumption that this new project will be launched as direct competition to the recently launched Google+. ComScore Inc, a leader in measuring the digital world released its monthly comScore qSearch analysis within the U.S market place recently. Leading the explicit core search market in June this year was Google Sites with 65.5% of search queries being conducted. Yahoo! Sites came in with 15.9% and Microsoft Sites with 14.4%. A total of 16.7 billion explicit core searches were conducted during the month of June with Google ranking in first – 10.9 billion searches.
Microsoft is set to offer motion capture and gesture capabilities to the world of business via its Kinect platform. This software development kit (SDK) will enable USB connectable devices to be plugged in to any Windows operated PC allowing for motion enabled applications such as motion sensing and hand gestures. If developed properly, this new offering could potentially become a viable alternative to touch screen technologies. A release date has not yet been made official.
Bing continues to make strides in improving their webmaster tools. Among the most recent includes updates on adding sitemap file type options including RSS, Atom and TXT; expanded navigation, notification options within a users' preferences menu and added support for 34 languages including Italian, Arabic, Japanese, Spanish and Hindi. Bing has recently been gathering feedback as to what will help their users in an effort to enhance the overall experience using their Webmaster Tools. Through what they're calling, the "Honey Badger" update, more monthly content will be added for Bing Webamaster account users in the near future, as well as other updated features currently being built.

Schema.org is aimed at creating and supporting a common set of schemas for structured data markup on web pages, assisting search engines in gaining a much better understanding of websites.
