As of Monday 13 June 2011, Twitter is now the new owner of the domain name, re-tweet.com (a placeholder webpage) Although the microblogging service doesn't yet own the domain in its entirety, according to Fusible, ownership was gained from an individual by the name of David Quinlan in an effort to try and obtain a U.S trademark for "retweet". Twitter have commented that in obtaining this domain they intend to manage it as part of their routine brand protection strategy.
