Search Engine Advertising also know as, CPC/PPC Advertising or CPM Advertising, is becomming extremely valuable in today's Online Marketing industry. The reason it has become so important is because:
CPC or Cost-Per-Click (Also known as PPC - Pay Per Click) Advertising is a form of advertising that is billed only when a user or potential customer clicks on one of your advertisements.
For example, lets say that you have an advertising campaign running on Google and a potential customer comes across your advertisement, they feel that the advertisement is relevant to what they are searching for, so they click on the advertisement. When the customer has clicked on the advertisement, then you are billed for that click.
CPM or Cost Per 1000 Impressions (Impressions are a single view of an advertisement i.e. every time an advertisement is shown to a user) is slightly different to that of CPC Advertising, as advertisers are only billed per 1000 Impressions and not per click.
Search Engine Advertising can be found beside the *Organic Search Engine Results, usually named "Ads" or "Sponsored Listings".
